Idiots
Once again our English fans are the shame of the nation. Yes, I know it's a minority and they will surely have been harassed by police (!) but the fact is that what we are seeing, once more, is 100s of English fans being arrested. It's the same in this country, hooligans all over the place - what the hell is going wrong with this country and what's the answer. Over to you, Tony.Thursday, June 15, 2006
Getting Better
The score and the performance. Not brilliant but the last 1/2 hour was good. Rooney and Lennon were good substitutions. Michael Owen really does like very edgy though and I'm not sure he will have time to come good in this tournament. I hope I'm wrong because we could be relying on his goals if we get through to quarters onwards. Still, we have qualified and if it's a draw tonight we've won the group!Same Old Story
What is it with the Germans and football? They have to be the World's luckiest team. At the last world cup they played averagely and yet still made it through to the final thanks to the easiest route ever seen at the finals. Last night again they played ok but nothing special with the Poles canceling everything out. Then that German luck comes in at 90+1. If only England could get that bit of luck this year! Spain looked very good indeed. Probably the best I've ever seen Spain play. If England win today we are through, if we win and Sweden fail to beat Paraguay then we win the group.Wednesday, June 14, 2006
Average
That's what Brazil and France were yesterday. Brazil got off to a great start but in the end were lucky to win. Ronaldo was just aweful. He was running like a fat little kid, you know what I mean? That awkward kind of run. Not the run of an international superstar that's for sure. France were also lucky to draw and that's now no goals in 4 world cup final outings. They are not the France of '98, that's for sure. Thierry Henry doesn't look like the player he is for Arsenal and Patrick Vierra doesn't look like the player he was for Arsenal. Still, it's the World Cup and it's not a sprint so you can't judge a team on it's first game.I've just installed the second Beta of Windows Vista on a spare hard drive. It looks like it's going to be very good indeed. Things I like...The gadget sidebarm a little like Yahoo Widgets. Also, the Media Centre. It's now a lot more like a fully integrated multimedia experience that looks beautiful and would easily look as good on your TV.

Muppets
I think this just sums up this country sometimes...http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/5073434.stm
You know, I moved to Germany to get away from idiots like these. When I was there I would come back to the UK and blindly only see the good aspects, telling people it's not as bad as it seems. Well, I was wrong, idiots like this, people raping little babies? WTF is going on? How the hell has this country become so bad and what should be done. I say bring back corporal and capital punishment!

Well under way
The world cup that is. It all started on Friday (as I'm sure everyone knows, even those who don't really want to know) with a very impressive opening game. Saturday was England's turn and we got a not terrible impressive 1-0 victory. Still, 3 points in the bag made even better by T&G's draw with Sweden. I had a party at my gaff at which copious amounts of lager were drunk. I've now started a week off and intend to watch as much football as possible!Sunday, June 04, 2006
All booked
Well, it's going to be a non frivolous month. I've booked the flights and have to book the hotels next. I'm looking at the Conrad in Bangkok and the Harbour Plaza Hong Kong. The problem is non of it is like it used to be. It's all pay up front nowadays and after spending nearly a grand on flights I can't afford that this month. Still, next month is (fingers crossed) bonus month at work so hopefully it won't be an issue then. The World Cup is very close now and the city (probably the whole country) is braced. Expectations are high. How many times have we heard 'this is our best chance since '66'? Perhaps this year they're right. We certainly have a good first 11. We need Rooney to pass his scan on Wednesday if we are realistically going to win the cup, so here's fingers crossed!
