All alright

Well, it looked like the tube strike (sack 'em all, give the jobs to people who want them - no sympathy at all) was going to ruin my New Year but the Hog is on his way round so we will work out something to do. Maybe we'll even go to one of the scary pubs on the Island. ;o)

Hmm

This is very important. Well, if you are a football fan. Well, even more than that if you are a Man Utd fan. Fergie has funds available which means we will be seeing him at the club for the next 1 to 2 years. If he hadn't had any funds it would have been an imminent departure this summer.

Lazy Days

It's great. I've done very little and been nowhere over the last few days (except the supermarket). I even got up at 10:30 - wow!! So, as a result I've got bugger all to say!

T'internet

What did we all do before the internet arrived? I'll give you a small example. I have a scarf, a fairly expensive Hugo Boss one and I wanted to know how to clean it - it smells of smoke a bit. I looked at the symbols - not a clue! I thought I would just bung it in the wash but stopped and checked the internet. The fist symbol is do not wash in water. I wouldn't have known that without the internet. Mobile phones also - what did we do before we could just ring people and ask where they were? You were either there when you arranged to meet or you weren't. If you weren't - tough!

Let it snow

Well, woke up this morning to a little scattering of snow.

Went onto the Next website this morning to see if I could find any bargains. A friend of mine warned me strongly against going to the store as he said it's like animals scavenging. Well, the website has ground to a halt. I'll see if there's anything left later. I just want some work shirts to be honest so I'm not that bothered.

I woke up this morning with blood pouring from my nuckle. Before you ask no, I hadn't been drinking - I hadn't even been out. I must have had a good dream though. :o)

Good result for Man Utd yesterday. The team looks like it's playing like a team and enjoying it's football again at last. We just need Chelsea to lose or at least draw now and then. I don't think they are as good as everyone makes out and I'd love to see Abramovich eat humble pie. Also, the potential signing of Vidic is important in 2 ways. Silvestre has been crap for about a year now and I'd like to see someone replace him or at least give him something to buck his ideas up. Rio has been playing like a trooper and it would be good to get someone properly solid alongside him. Secondly, if Fergie is given money in January it signals the club's intention of sticking with him, something I really don't think there is a valid question about.

I haven't had a cigarette since Christmas day. I'm suffering a bit right now but know it's all in the mind so I will keep going. I want to stop New Year but if I could get through a week before that it would be great - we'll see.

Ho ho ho!

Merry Christmas one and all. I'm at my Mum's right now, we had a few to drink last night and Mum's still suffering (must be the age!!). Got a million and one triffic presents including 1001 Limericks book, one of which is below. Made me chuckle.

There was a young lady from Arden
Who sucked off a man in a garden.
He said,'My dear Flo,
Where does all that stuff go?'
And she said - swallowing hard - 'Beg your pardon?'

;o)

Christmas rush

I had to go to the post office today and it's hard to believe that people are leaving it until 19th December to post packages to such places as Toronto and expect them to make it by 24th, wait, no 24th is a Saturday so it's going to be 23rd this year. Then, when the poor little guy behind the counter explains that they left it too late they get irate as though it's the little guy's fault. Amazing!

Kong!

Just got back from watching Peter Jackson's new Epic King Kong. I can say it's the best movie I have seen since the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It looks magnificent, the ape looks alive and has so much emotion. The first hour sets you for 2 non stop hours of adventure, emotion and the occasional laugh. The message I got from this movie was around mankind's greed, ignorance, naivety and stupidity . Warning: Do not let children see this movie - it has a 12 certificate for a reason!

Christmas time

We had the company Christmas party last night. I can't quite tell you why but it just wasn't Christmasy at all. Still, had a good time and as usual a few niggling little things at work were sorted out over a pint or 2. A few of us went to a late night bar after wards and one of the women managed to get her switch card stuck in a machine by putting it in where the receipt comes out. Doh!

Psychosomatic addict, insane

Just got back from Brixton Academy. The boys were awesome tonight. A bit of an added bonus was that during one of the non-vocal tunes I went to the bar and Keith Flint came walking past and shook my hand. Wicked!
