Did anyone see the Pope not delivering his Easter message yesterday? He really isn't in a very good way. 2 things spring to mind here. Firstly, the fact that in order to be chosen as Pope you need to be between 65 and 80 - and once there no one else can take over until you are dead. Does it look like the current Pope is doing himself or any of his followers any good given the state he is in? I think not.

I guess also grabbing the headlines today is the case of Micheal Jackson. I don't know if he is guilty but he is in a whole load of trouble. Whether he actually molested the children is unknown. One thing for sure is that given how much he is in the public spotlight he simply cannot have young boys staying at his ranch or in his bed. It has opened him up to all sorts of allegations (presuming he is not guilty of course) and could find himself jailed for nothing more than his own stupidity.

That's my Monday rant. :o) At least there is no work to go to today. It seems like I have been off for ages (well, I guess it has been almost a week).

Quite a lot has happened this week. We cremated my friend on Wednesday. I will never be able to listen to Moby in the same light again. We had a thoroughly awesome wake, he would have been véry proud of. It just makes you realise how short life really is and how we shouldn't waste a single day. I think I dreamt about Martin every night since I learned of his death. How sad that we all seem so wrapped up in our own lives to spend real quality time with our friends. Note to self I think.

Went to Fifteen (Jamie Oliver's restaurant) on Thursday. Quite splendid. Thoroughly enjoyed every part of it, from the fine Pino Grigiot to a red wine sorbet that just explodes in your mouth. Also had some brie that made me visit La Fromagerie as soon as I woke up the next day. Best cheese shop I have ever been to and I understand why Jamie uses it!

Since then chilled, parents came over and went (Mum nearly walking properly again after her drain experience - don't ask!) and that's about it. Undecided about the new Dr Who so far - seemed ok but not what I expected. Judegement reserved for now.

Jamie Oliver on Parkie last night. Great work son. I think what he is trying to achieve is fantastic and everyone should get behind him and sign his Feed Me Better petition . I know people who don't really like Jamie because of his 'mockney' accent but I think he is great. A happy, friendly, down to earth guy who with Fifteen and FMB is actually using his fame to try and make a difference.

Another site worth taking a look at is Tea 4 Health.com . Fairly self explanatory, full of facts about the best drink in the world. I am tending to drink a lot more green tea nowadays. Probably a bit of an acquired taste to be honest but very good for you.

Liverpool just gone 2-0 up. :o( Come on Everton.

I think the world has gone mad. I was on the DLR this morning and across the way from me was a young girl, maybe 12 or 13 years old. She had knee length leather boots on, was reading a newspaper and when her mobile phone rang the ring tone went along the lines of 'fuck off, go on, fuck off'. Nice eh?

Had a bit of bad news. My great uncle died last (he was in his 80s) and an old friend from Uni died a couple of days ago. This was a bit more of a shock as he was in his late 20s. Found dead in his flat. He had kept himself out of everyone's way for the last year so people were starting to get a little worried - then suddenly one of my friend's gets a phone call from his brother - very few details, nothing suspicious. A real shame. Funeral is next Wednesday - hope everyone turns up and gives him a good send off - he would like that.

feeling much better. A couple of good night's sleep and no cigarettes has done me wonders. It will be good when the cravings have totally gone. It is getting there though. Plenty of water is the key. They say water helps flush the nicotine out of your body thus leaving a smoker with fewer cravings. Seems to be working so far. Found something fairly cool on the bbc website. It's the 2005 Bloggies awards. Worth a look if you get bored. Nothing else too exciting has been happening. Ordered some vertical blinds for the lounge and some metal venetian blinds for the 2 bedrooms. I read this which basically says that it is cheaper to rent in UK than buy right now (saving you around 35k over 7 years!!) so I will be staying in my appartment for a while, so may as well make it homely.

Had a good weekend - feeling a bit Mondayed today though. Met up with a few old friends for a bit of a birthday bash on Saturday - ended up drinking Bolinger all night and was catagorically told not to put my hand in my pocket to pay for it. Cheers Rich, you are a star. Sunday was spent doing very little but watching footy and having an afternoon nap. Back at work today, seems quite quiet so far which is good - need a sloooow day!

Wahay! Got tickets for U2!! It means travelling all the way to Vienna but why not - make a weekend of it. The concert is at the Ernst Happel Stadion - a 50,000 seater stadium. So I am sure this will be good. I am also going to see Coldplay at Crystal Palace. I saw them a couple of years ago in Munich - the best concert I have ever seen. So to be able to see them again but this time playing in front of 30,000 fans will be something!

So I stopped smoking (again)! It's been 4 days, 16 hours, 3 minutes and 10 seconds (not that I am counting of course). How's it been? Generally, not bad. Ocassionally I feel like I could rip someone's head off!

If I can keep going until the end of the week I should be fine. I just keep drinking lots of water and green tea and eating healthily and it seems not so bad. It will be fine I am sure.

Work is work as usual. I am getting to grips with the new job and the flat is almost finished. Animals are happy, Keith is happy, everyone is happy.

What else? Oh, Man Utd are out of Europe. Seems to get to this time of year every year and I am saying the same thing. We need a world class keeper - we have struggled since Schmeichel left - and some consistency. Ruud is still not back to his best after a long lay off, Rooney and Ronaldo need a couple more years to get the consistency required by which time we will have to have replaced Keano - no easy task in itself!

Bugger all else really...er, going to fifteen (Jamie Oliver's restaurant) when Annie arrives in a couple of weeks, that's about all...

A new look - cheers to chrisofcourse . So, what has been happening? Well, I am pretty much all settled in now. Animals all seem happy, work is still hectic and London is still London. Will be very glad when the weather gets better so I can actually get out and about by foot AND enjoy it. The hog came dame from Leeds last week so we went to the IMAX to see Aliens of the Deep 3D - awesome. I will be going again. 3D cinematography has come a long way. Had a walk around Camden market on Sunday. Always a pleasure but it was damn cold! Rest of the week? Work really. Oh, I should be getting my DSL tomorrow so will be able to update more frequently.
